Who are we – what are we?
Chimo-Corporate is part of Chimo Holdings, a family owned group of traditional Sheffield Companies, one dating back as far as 1750 (yes 1750! – 35 years before Mutiny on the Bounty, 55 years before the Battle of Trafalgar and 162 years before the Titanic) brought together under one roof with all those skills and craftsmanship. Chimo, incidentally is a Canadian Innuit word of greeting meaning"friendship brotherhood & trust"
Originally we specialised in top quality cutlery but in recent years through acquisitions we have expanded into Corporate Gifts and Promotional Items. We work in a range of metals incuding sterling silver, silverplate, stainless steel, brass, copper, pewter & aluminium.
In 2004 we embarked on “Investors in People” (which we were awarded in 2005) - this led to the team learning new abilities as we multi-skilled the whole workforce, but also brought us to the realisation that one of our greatest assets were the team’s skills, combined with all the machinery, plus the amazing range of tools and dies we have here that would be valuable to the other Companies and people.
So we decided to offer these as “trade services” and have already used our guillotines to cut shapes for a steel supplier, stamped out “stars” for a Heat Engineering Company, logo’d over 350,000 pieces of cutlery for the airline industry, stamped “Press to Exit” plates for an electrical wholesaler, marked washers for the oil & gas industries, cut out shapes for a jewellery designer, plus we opened a “Cutlery Hospital” for repairing and re-plating cutlery, and a direct "shop" website where people can buy some of our products.
